FACELIFT

Facelift procedures have come a long way since first practiced in 1901. Today, after thousands of procedures and with the advances in technology, a facelift, or rhytidectomy, can be performed in conjunction with other procedures and down time is much less.

Facelifts give men and women a more youthful appearance and improving your self-esteem; perhaps reflecting how young you really feel inside. Every individual has a different constitution, and some wrinkle much quicker than others. Exposure to the elements, especially the sun, causes the skin to lose elasticity, get dry and begin to wrinkle. With age, the underlying muscles can also weaken. Things like weight fluctuation can also cause skin to stretch. These naturally occurring changes may cause you to desire a facelift.

Regardless of the reason of why may want or need a facelift, at our Plastic Surgery Center we can address any of these problems by tightening the skin around the face, making it more rigid and looking more youthful.

Facelift Procedure

During a facelift procedure, excess skin is removed and tightened, including the underlying tissue. This helps restore the patient’s smooth skin and soften the contours of the face and neck. A facelift requires incisions, but these are usually hidden behind the ears and made to be inconspicuous.

Upon completing the procedure, your face may be lightly wrapped to protect it from infection and to control the swelling. Draining may occur and you may also feel discomfort. Our professional and reliable staff will ensure that prior to being released you have detailed instructions and pain medication in case it is needed.

Recuperation after a Facelift

Depending on the extent of the procedure, and whether you’ve had any additional cosmetic procedures done, your recuperation can take between 10 to 15 days. Anything that seems out of the ordinary, such as excessive pain or fever, should be reported to us immediately. Some swelling is common and should be expected.

Dr. Weinberg will want to see you after your procedure. We will instruct you on how often and how soon after your surgery. During your post-surgical visits, Dr. Weinberg will also instruct on the amount of activity you can do during your recuperation and when you can resume your daily activity.

Who’s the Ideal Candidate for a Facelift?

During your initial consultation, you will be asked about any medication you may be taking, level of alcohol consumption and overall health issues. Be as candid as possible with us.
